Scoring:
Each division will be scored separately. We will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes in each division.

Your run will be timed. You will be given a minimum and maximum time for each part of the course. You will be penalized for going too fast or too slow. The speeding penalty is twice as much as the turtle penalty.

There will be several “Checkpoint Challenges” - Your team will get a score based on these.

Each cache will have 40 points assigned. Those points will be distributed between the teams who find it. For example, if only two teams find a cache, it will be worth 20 points for each of them. If 20 teams find a given cache, each team will get 2 points.

Note – The rally caches will be published after the rally is over and may be logged on geocaching.com.

Special Activities:
Pat Irwin is a member of the board of Supervisors for Pershing County and has been our contact there. He will be hosting a Bar-B-Que for cachers on Friday evening at his home.

We want to support the Ronald MacDonald House Charity (housing for the families of critically ill children) as part of the rally. We will be having a raffle for a hot air balloon ride during the awards ceremony. Pat Irwin is a balloon pilot who regularly participates in the Great Reno Balloon Race. He has offered to give a ride to the raffle winners.

Requirements:
All vehicles must be street legal. You must have and use a seat belt for each team member.

Off-Road vehicles must be designed for off-road use. Stock vehicles with 4 wheel drive and a low range option should be fine. Urban All Wheel Drive vehicles are probably not appropriate. Call us if you are unsure. Fire restrictions will be in effect and you will be required to have an axe, shovel and one gallon of water.

GPX files for the rally will be available on the morning of the rally via the Internet. Many of you will be able to download those files and load your own GPS receiver. For those of you who cannot load your own files, we will have laptops and helpers near the registration table. Be sure you have your own cable. We will have GSAK and EasyGPS available. You will need to know how to get the GPX file from GSAK or EasyGPS onto your unit. Don't assume that we will know how to load waypoints onto your receiver. We will try to have at least one laptop with a serial port but USB connections are preferred.

We will have a “Good Sam Honor Policy” in place. If you see a fellow rally participant in distress, stop and help them. Keep track of the time you spent and let the timekeeper know. That time will not count against you.

The early registration (Before August 7th) fee is $85. This includes the team entry fee, two T-Shirts, and two tickets to the Awards Banquet. Additional T-Shirts may be purchased for $12 each. Additional tickets to the banquet will be $20 each. Kids are half-price.
